It all began with an amazing lady and her Invasive Plant Management course: Elaine Armagost! Elaine's course was so all encompassing in teaching about invasive plants that it inspired Cailey to pursue a career in the invasive plant control industry.
Cailey and Kevin got their start in the invasive plant business with Lee Holm and Mountainview Resources. Lee Holm is one of the pioneers in invasive plant control in Canada. He taught us about the Invasive Plant Management Areas and introduced us to these beautiful places within the East Kootenay. He instilled into us the passion and caring for the land. He helped us to see how everything is connected, encouraged us to believe in ourselves and that every endeavor is possible. It was during the years that we were spraying that Cailey began to dream of something bigger than backpack sprayers and hoses. It is a dream of connecting the lands, the goats and the people to rehabilitate the lands and more. This is when she called Elaine Armagost for Conrad and Donna Lindblom's phone number. Conrad and Donna Lindblom and Rocky Ridge Vegetation Control is the first company to do target grazing with goats in Canada, and have over 20 years in managing large goat herds for vegetation control. Rocky Ridge has tried and true methods of herd management and has an impressive list of First Nations, municipalities, and forestry companies that have used their services. They are now moving into teaching their unique methods and expanding this natural method of invasive plant control so that it becomes one of the main tools in Canada's Integrated Pest Management Toolbox. |
