Our purpose is entirely dedicated to the environment as we are reducing chemical spraying and are bringing a wholistic method of land rehabilitation. Our everyday activities include:
- getting excited and positive about things that are good for the environment
- reducing judgment, creating beauty, celebrating diversity,
- celebrating First Nations and indigenous roots of all cultures and ancestral knowledge of being stewards of the land.
- supporting and celebrating businesses, schools, community groups that are taking the steps to be environmentally focused
- we winter the herd at an off-the-grid/solar powered property
- we reduce, reuse, recycle and compost
- we conserve our energy consumption by turning off lights in the office
- lower our one use plastics
- we have to-go cups in our truck if we need to buy a coffee
- we buy our clothes, utensils, furniture etc from thrift shops
- use bulk food stores that require you to bring your own containers
- lower our gasoline consumption by strategically planning our "trips to town" and by car pooling to events
- use solar panels to recharge our batteries on our camper
- we use the Kimberley Food Recovery Program
- we are excited about the solar farm that has been built in Kimberley on the old Teck Mine site
- we are developing a network of trails around the East Kootenay so that we can move the goats across land instead of consuming gasoline in transport.
- electric vehicles are also a dream of ours
- Two years ago we were on the committee that is redesigning the Solid Waste Management Plan for the Regional District of the East Kootenay
- we are excited about the new recycling program in Kimberley, BC and use it
- we are strategic when planning our grazing contracts so that transport is reduced as we travel from contract to contract
